Every year, no matter the distance, our family comes together to honor a beloved tradition started by my mother: decorating Christmas cookies. Though she is now in heaven, her spirit lives on as children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren—spread out across different states—gather in their homes to bake her cookie recipes, and frost and sprinkle dozens of confectionary delights. Even miles apart, we connect through video calls, sharing laughter, stories, and the joy of continuing the tradition she began. It's a way to keep her memory alive while creating new moments that will be passed down for generations to come.
