That one question became the heartbeat of the story that I followed into the backstory I didn't know. Soon I was following a journey I couldn’t have predicted, one that led to the dragons, the Labyrinth of Times, and the Dragon’s Oath.
A Story About Transformation
At its core, Drake Ascendant is about transformation. My main character starts small, ordinary, even constrained, and through sacrifice, courage, and choices that matter, discovers a greater purpose. Transformation — the journey from who we are to who we can become. It's something that's always fascinated me. And it’s something I hope readers can see reflected in their own lives.
Building a World Through Questions
I didn’t sit down with a fully imagined world. Instead, I asked questions:
- Who are these people?
- Why must dragons and humans unite?
- What secrets from the past shape the future?
Each answer led to the next, and slowly the Dragon's Oath world of Drake Ascendant came alive — rich, layered, and full of mystery. Writing this way kept the story organic, alive, and full of surprises — even for me.
Writing the Story I Wanted to Read
I wanted a clean fantasy story I couldn’t put down, with characters I’d root for and a world I’d want to explore. That personal passion guided everything, from the pacing to the twists and turns and the most rewarding part is hearing from readers who feel that same energy.
A Journey of Discovery
Writing this book mirrored my own journey as a writer: full of curiosity, surprises, and discovery. I didn’t know where every twist would take me, but I trusted the story and followed it wherever it led. And now, I’m thrilled to share it with you.
