Sneak Peek – Dragon’s Oath: Book Four

This week’s writing took me deep into the Sanctuary—into one of the oldest tunnels hidden beneath the dormant volcano.

Here’s a behind-the-scenes sneak peek from Chapter 4 of Dragon’s Oath: Book Four (my current work in progress).

Frulin is beginning to uncover truths that have been buried… and something long-dormant might be awakening.

"Frulin, come with me."

Nimbus moved deeper into the heart of the Sanctuary. "It be important that this be not talked about to anyone."

Frulin stopped and looked back. Tozet and Kenina were not following. Frulin nodded her agreement. She would keep another secret, though the weight of them was beginning to press on her.

They walked in silence, cutting into one of the oldest lava tubes, its walls lined with irregular nooks and ridges. Frulin still marveled at her ability to see in the dark, but the absence of eggs here unsettled her.

Nimbus turned down a twisting side tunnel that narrowed into a quiet alcove.

"This be one of the oldest tunnels," she said, stopping before an egg nestled in the warmth.

"This be the Thornose egg. Gamalar and Hennah’s. They placed it into mine care. Someday, the second Thornose egg shall come—but I know not when."

Frulin froze mid-step.

"I… I feel… something."

Not a sound. Not a movement. A presence.

The air shifted—denser, warmer.

A quiet thrum touched her—not in her ears, but beneath her skin. Like the echo of a heartbeat.

Something was awakening.
